and spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made y’all’s yoke heavy, but I will add to it. My father chastised y’all with whips, but I will chastise y’all with scorpions.”


Y’all’s plunder will be gathered as the caterpillar gathers. People will swarm on it as locusts leap.


You, son of humanity, don’t be afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you, and you dwell among scorpions. Don’t be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.


What the gnawing locust has left, the swarming locust has eaten. What the swarming locust has left, the young locust has eaten. What the young locust has left, the other locusts has eaten.


I will restore to y’all the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the young locust, the destroying locust, and the devouring locust, my great army, which I sent among y’all.


There the fire will devour you. The sword will cut you off. It will devour you like the grasshopper. Multiply like grasshoppers. Multiply like the locust.


Your guards are like the locusts, and your officials like the swarms of locusts, which settle on the walls on a cold day, but when the sun appears, they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.


Look, I have given y’all authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the enemy’s power. Nothing will hurt y’all.
