I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand; but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan before the king of Babylon with the groaning of a mortally wounded man.


Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that a census should be taken of all the known world.


So the Pharisees said so one another, “Don’t y’all see that you’ve accomplished nothing? Look, the world has gone after him.”


Even Simon himself believed. After he was baptized, he followed Philip everywhere, astonished as he watched the signs and great miracles occurring.


It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence. It makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.


It deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs it was given to do in presence of the beast, saying to those who dwell on the earth that they should make an image of the beast who had the sword wound but lived.


They are seven kings. Five have fallen, the one is, and the other has not yet come, but when he comes, he must remain only a short time.


The beast that was, and is not, is itself an eighth, and is from the seven and is going to destruction.
