David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son,


Hɪꜱ heart is established. Hᴇ will not be afraid in the end when ʜᴇ sees ʜɪꜱ adversaries.


For you meet him with the blessings of goodness. You set a crown of fine gold on his head.


Y’all come and see the works of YHWH, the desolations ʜᴇ has brought on the earth.


YHWH, lead me in your righteousness because of my enemies. Make your way straight before my face.


Hᴇ will repay the evil to my enemies. Destroy them in your truth.


For ʜᴇ has delivered me out of all trouble. My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.


My enemies want to swallow me up all day long, for they are many who fight proudly against me.


They conspire and lurk, watching my steps. They are eager to take my life.


To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.


Don’t hold the iniquities of our forefathers against us. Let your tender mercies speedily meet us, for we are in desperate need.


You will only look with your eyes, and see the recompense of the wicked.


My eye has also seen my enemies. My ears have heard of the wicked enemies who rise up against me.


It will happen that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.


As for me, I have not hurried from being a your shepherd. You know I haven’t longed for the day of sickness. What came out of my lips was before your face.


Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all comfort.


We tell y’all this according to the word of the Lord: those who remain alive until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep.


But after y’all have suffered a little while, may the God of all grace, who called y’all to his eternal glory in Christ, restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish y’all.
