But he stood in the middle of the plot and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and YHWH worked a great victory.


I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place and be moved no more. The children of wickedness will not afflict them any more, as at the first,


Hᴇ gave them the lands of the nations. They took the labor of the peoples in possession,


Hᴇ also drove out the nations before them, allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.


and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your grandson how severely I dealt with Egypt and how I performed signs among them. Then y’all will know that I am YHWH.”


You will bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of your inheritance, the place, YHWH, which you have made for yourself to dwell in: the sanctuary, Lord, which your hands have established.


For the horses of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and YHWH brought back the waters of the sea on them; but the children of Israel walked on dry land in the middle of the sea.


I will send the hornet before you, which will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before you.


Observe that which I command you today. I will drive out before you the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.


Awake, awake, put on strength, arm of YHWH! Awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Isn’t it you who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the monster?

When YHWH your God brings you into the land where you go to possess it, and casts out many nations before you—the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite—seven nations greater and mightier than you;


As they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth Horon, YHWH hurled down great stones from the sky on them to Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than those whom the children of Israel killed with the sword.


Joshua took all these kings and their land at one time because YHWH, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.


So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that YHWH spoke to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Then the land had rest from war.


So YHWH gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give to their fathers. They possessed it, and lived in it.


I sent the hornet ahead of y’all to drive them out from the two kings of the Amorites from before y’all. It was not with your sword or your bow.


Joshua said, “By this y’all will know that the living God is among y’all, and that ʜᴇ will drive-drive out before y’all the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Hivite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, and the Jebusite.


Gideon said to him, “Oh, my lord, if YHWH is with us, why then has all this happened to us? Where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, ‘Didn’t YHWH bring us up from Egypt?’ But now YHWH has cast us off and delivered us into the hand of Midian.”
