In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.


YHWH has made ʜɪᴍꜱᴇʟꜰ known. Hᴇ has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of ʜɪꜱ own hands. Meditation. Selah.


The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perverseness of the treacherous will destroy them.


A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy gains healing.


I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction. The dwellings of the land of Midian trembled.


Balaam said to God, “Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has said to me,


Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this multitude will lick up all that is around us, as the ox licks up the grass of the field.” Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time.


He sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the River, to the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, “Look, a people have came out of Egypt. They cover the surface of the earth, and they are living opposite me.


Who can count the dust of Jacob, or count the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous! Let my last end be like his!”


Now, I am going to my people. Come, I will advise you on what this people will do to your people in the latter days.”


Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.


The name of the Midianite woman who was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur. He was head of the people of a fathers’ house in Midian.


for they hve been hostile to y’all with their treachery, when they deceived y’all in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of the leader of Midian, their sister, who was killed on the day of the plague in the matter of Peor.”


Look, these people, through the counsel of Balaam, caused the children of Israel to commit trespass against YHWH in the matter of Peor, so that the plague came among the congregation of YHWH.


The children of Israel took the women of Midian captive with their little ones; and all their livestock, all their flocks, and all their goods, they took as plunder.


Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness.


Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, rushed into the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.


The beast was seized, and with it the false prophet who made the signs in its presence and deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.


But I have few things against you: you have there some who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat food sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.
