Your rulers are rebellious and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes and follows after rewards. They don’t defend the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.


Yes, the dogs are greedy. They can never have enough. They are shepherds who can’t understand. They have all turned to their own way, each one to his gain, from every quarter.


Y’all have profaned me among my people for a handful of barley and a scrap of bread. Y’all have killed the souls who should not die and saved the souls who should not live, by lying to my people who listen to lies.’


For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination. He shook the arrows back and forth. He consulted the teraphim. He looked in the liver.


Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money; yet they lean on YHWH, and say, “Isn’t YHWH among us? No disaster will come on us.”


He said to them, “Y’all stay here tonight, and I will bring y’all word that YHWH speaks to me.” The officials of Moab stayed with Balaam.


Surely there is no enchantment with Jacob; neither is there any divination with Israel. Now it will be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘What has God done!’


When Balaam saw that it pleased YHWH to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to use divination, but he set his face toward the wilderness.


For such people don’t serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly. By their smooth and flattering speech, they deceive the hearts of the innocent.


It is necessary to shut their mouths because they are disrupting entire households by teaching things they shouldn’t for dishonest gain.


The children of Israel also killed Balaam the son of Beor, the soothsayer, with the sword, among the rest of their slain.


Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness.


Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, rushed into the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.
