Now, the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned away from them, and didn’t destroy them.


Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz. He fought against Israel.


They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people became very impatient because of the journey.


“Let me pass through your land. I will go along by the highway. I will turn neither to the right hand nor to the left.


as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did for me, until I pass over the Jordan into the land which YHWH our God is giving us.”


You must not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You must not abhor an Egyptian, because you lived as a foreigner in his land.

Won’t you possess that which Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whoever YHWH our God has dispossessed from before us, them will we possess.
