Hushai said moreover, “You know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are fierce in their minds, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. Your father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.


They are like a lion eager to shred its prey, like a young lion lurking in hiding places.


“Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me. He has crushed me. He has made me an empty vessel. He has swallowed me up like a sea monster. He has filled his belly with my delicacies. and then spewed me out.


Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked with the lion’s cubs, and no one made them afraid?


“I am against you!” declares YHWH Almighty. “I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions; and I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers will no longer be heard.”


Look, a people rises up as a lioness, As a lion rouses itself. It will not lie down until it eats of the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain.”
