Absalom commanded his servants, saying, “Y’all watch until Amnon’s heart is merry with wine and I tell y’all, ‘Strike Amnon.’ Then y’all must kill him. Don’t be afraid. Haven’t I commanded y’all? Y’all must be courageous and valiant!”


They surrounded me like bees. They are quenched like the burning thorns. In the name of YHWH I cut them off.


As smoke is blown away, so blow them away. As wax melts before the fire, let the wicked perish before the face of God.


In the greatness of your excellency, you overthrow those who rise up against you. You send out your wrath. It consumes them as stubble.


So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.


Wrath is not in me, but if I should find briers and thorns, I would do battle! I would march on them and I would burn them together.


Look, they are like stubble. The fire will burn them. They won’t deliver themselves from the power of the flame. It won’t be a coal to warm at or a fire to sit by.
