“If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him


Light dawns in the darkness for the upright, gracious, merciful, and righteous.


For the enemy pursues my soul. Hᴇ has struck my life down to the ground. Hᴇ has made me live in dark places, as those who have been long dead.


They are bowed down and fallen, but we rise up, and stand upright.


YHWH is my light and my salvation, so whom should I fear? YHWH is the strength of my life, whom should I be afraid?


Don’t let those who are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes.


The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously.


Even if he stumbles, he will not fall, for YHWH holds him up with ʜɪꜱ hand.


For I said, “Don’t let them gloat over me, or exalt themselves over me when my foot slips.”


For YHWH God is a sun and a shield. YHWH will give grace and glory. Hᴇ withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly.


Light is planted for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.


House of Jacob, y’all come, and let us walk in the light of YHWH.


saying to those who are bound, ‘Y’all come out!’ and to those who are in darkness, ‘Show yourselves*!’ “They will feed along the road, and their pasture will be on every barren height.


Who among y’all fears YHWH and obeys the voice of ʜɪꜱ servant? Let the one who walks in darkness and has no light, trust in the name of YHWH, and rely on his God.


The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. The light has shined on those who lived in the land of the shadow of death.


For wasn’t Israel a laughingstock to you? Was he found among thieves? For as often as you speak of him, you shake your head in scorn.


“Because you are glad, because you rejoice, O you who plunder my heritage, because you are wanton as a heifer that treads out the grain, and neigh as strong horses,

As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be desolate, Mount Seir, and all Edom, even all of it. Then they will know that I am YHWH.’”


therefore Lord YHWH says: “Surely in the fire of my jealousy I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, that have appointed my land to themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with despite of soul, to cast it out for a prey.”’


In that day I will raise up the tent of David who is fallen and close up its breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old,


But don’t look down on your brother in the day of his disaster, and don’t rejoice over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction. Don’t speak proudly in the day of distress.


Be in pain, and labor to give birth, daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail; for now you will go out of the city, and will dwell in the field, and will come even to Babylon. There you will be rescued. There YHWH will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.


Then my enemy will see it, and shame will cover her who said to me, “Where is YHWH your God?” My eyes will see her. Now she will be trodden down like the mire of the streets.


In that day YHWH will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. He who is feeble among them at that day will be like David, and David’s house will be like God, like the Angel of YHWH before them.


But for y’all who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will arise with healing in its wings. Y’all will go out and run around like calves released from the stall.


the people who were sitting in darkness saw a great light; to those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, a light has dawned upon them.”


Very truly I tell y’all that y’all will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. Y’all will be sorrowful, but y’all’s sorrow will be turned into joy.


Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”


to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’


For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.


persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.


The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminates it and its lamp is the Lamb.


There will no longer be night, and they have no need for lamp light or sun light, because the Lord God will shine on them. They will reign for ever and ever.
