You are the most excellent of the sons of men. Grace has anointed your lips, therefore God has blessed you forever.


When Jesus finished instructing his twelve disciples, he left that place to teach and preach in their cities.


When Jesus finished these things, he left Galilee and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan.


When the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.


When Jesus finished all these words, he said to his disciples,


The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell—and its fall was great.”


for he taught them with authority, unlike the scribes.


The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, not like the scribes.


The chief priests and the scribes heard it, and began considering how they might kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.


When the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things?” and, “What is the wisdom that is given to him? What kind of power comes through his hands?


They couldn’t find a way to do it, because all the people were hanging on him, listening.


Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.


All were speaking well about him and marveling at the gracious words that came from his mouth. Yet they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”


and they were struck with amazement at his teaching, because his words had authority.


After he had completed all his teaching to the people who were listening, he entered Capernaum.


Then the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this man know so much without any formal education?”


The officers answered, “No one ever spoke like this man!”
