In the dark they dig through houses. They shut themselves up in the daytime. They don’t know the light.


“If I have made gold my hope, and have said to the fine gold, ‘You are my confidence;’


“Surely every person walks like a shadow. Surely they busy themselves in vain. They amass wealth without knowing who will get it.


Y’all must not trust in oppression. Y’all must not vainly hope in robbery. If riches increase, y’all must not set your heart on them.


If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, no one is guilty of bloodshed for him.


Riches don’t profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.


How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.


For to the person who pleases ʜɪᴍ, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner ʜᴇ gives the task of gathering and accumulating, so that ʜᴇ may give to someone who pleases God. This also is emptiness and a chasing after wind.


Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of YHWH’s wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.


Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”


but store up for yourselves* treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.


This is how it will be for those who store up treasure for themselves, but are not rich toward God.”


Y’all must sell your possessions and give to the poor. Y’all must make purses for yourselves that won’t wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.


But y’all must understand this: if the owner of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be broken into.


When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “Still you lack one thing. Sell everything you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then you come, follow me.”


Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the Empire of God!


Charge those who are rich in this present age not to be arrogant or have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.


Ensure that your life is free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for ʜᴇ has said, “I will never leave you, neither will I forsake you.”
