“Son of humanity, those who inhabit the waste places in the land of Israel speak, saying, ‘Abraham was one, and he inherited the land; but we are many. The land is given us for inheritance.’


For it is from within, out of the human heart, that evil thoughts proceed—sexual sins, murders, thefts,


He thought to himself, ‘What should I do, since I don’t have room to store my crops?’


So he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me! Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames.’


He answered, “I am telling y’all, if they keep silent, the stones will cry out.”


Therefore, y’all must produce fruits worthy of repentance. And y’all shouldn’t start saying to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father.’ For I tell y’all that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones!


But Jesus, aware of their thoughts, answered them, “Why are y’all thinking like this in y’all’s hearts?


Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what kind of woman is touching him, that she is a sinner.”


They answered him, “We are Abraham’s offspring, and have never been slaves to anyone. How can you say, ‘Y’all will be set free’?”


I know that y’all are Abraham’s offspring, yet y’all are seeking to kill me, because my word finds no place in y’all.


Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets died too. Who do you make yourself out to be?”


“Siblings, children of Abraham’s family, and those among y’all who fear God, the word of this salvation is sent out to y’all.
