and refused to obey. They weren’t mindful of your wonders that you did among them, but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, and didn’t forsake them.


YHWH is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and of great lovingkindness.


But ʜᴇ, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn’t destroy them. Yes, many times ʜᴇ turned ʜɪꜱ anger away, and didn’t stir up all ʜɪꜱ wrath.


But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.


For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, abundant in lovingkindness to all those who call on you.


“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me, my compassion is aroused.


“But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him one hundred denarii. He grabbed him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’


Then the master called him in and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.


Neither had enough to repay, so he forgave the debts them both. Now which of them will love him more?”


Simon answered, “I suppose the one he forgave more.” Jesus said to him, “You have judged correctly.”


They put away the foreign gods from among them and served YHWH; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
