The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics. And he healed them.


When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might come and anoint him.


[Now when he had risen early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.


A large crowd of the people followed him, including women who were mourning and lamenting him.


But all who knew him, including the women who followed with him from Galilee, stood at a distance, seeing these things.


The women who had come with him out of Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how his body was placed.


Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion,” for many demons had entered him.


Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.


They all joined together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers in constant prayer with one mind.
