8 Therefore, y’all must produce fruits worthy of repentance. And y’all shouldn’t start saying to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father.’ For I tell y’all that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones!

Please y’all, as of today return their fields, vineyards, olive groves, and houses, and also the percentage of the money, grain, new wine, and oil that y’all are charging them.”


“Son of humanity, those who inhabit the waste places in the land of Israel speak, saying, ‘Abraham was one, and he inherited the land; but we are many. The land is given us for inheritance.’


“Therefore I tell y’all that the Empire of God will be taken away from y’all and will be given to an ethnic group producing its fruit.


Therefore y’all produce fruit worthy of repentance!


Don’t think y’all can say to yourselves*, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell y’all that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.


Once the master of the house gets up and has shuts the door, y’all will stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up for us!’ But he will answer y’all, ‘I don’t know y’all or where y’all come from.’


Then y’all will say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’


Then the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ In disgrace, you would then go take the least important place.


He answered, “I am telling y’all, if they keep silent, the stones will cry out.”


Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham.


The scribes and the Pharisees began to think to themselves, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”


They answered him, “We are Abraham’s offspring, and have never been slaves to anyone. How can you say, ‘Y’all will be set free’?”


They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If y’all were Abraham’s children, y’all would do the works of Abraham.


but first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and all throughout Judea, then also to the ethnic groups, I proclaimed that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds worthy of repentance.


The reason it is by faith, is so that it may be according to grace, in order that the promise may be guaranteed to all the offspring, not to those of the law, but to that also those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.


Nor because they are Abraham’s offspring, are they all children. Rather “your offspring will be counted as from Isaac.”


being filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
