Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,


These things happened in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.


They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, the man who was with you beyond the Jordan, of whom you have testified—Look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”


Before Jesus’s public entrance, John preached the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.


Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people that the one who would come after him is who they should believe in—that is, in Jesus.”


And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’
