Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had Moses, his chosen, not stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, so that he wouldn’t destroy them.


He said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, Lord, please let the Lord go among us, even though this is a stiff-necked people; pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”


Then YHWH said to me, “Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not turn toward this people. Cast them out of my sight, and let them go out!


Should evil be repaid for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.


Let the priests, the ministers of YHWH, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, “Spare your people, YHWH, and don’t give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”


So he said to the vineyard worker, ‘Look, for three years, I have been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t any. Cut it down! Why should it waste the soil?’


If it bears fruit, fine; if not, after that, you can cut it down.’”


It isn’t fit for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown out. Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness. Rather ʜᴇ is patient with us, not wishing anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
