Then YHWH’s fire fell and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the dust; and it licked up the water that was in the trench.


Let my prayer be set before you like incense; the lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice.


He said to Moses, “Come up to YHWH, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel. Y’all are to worship from a distance.


Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up.


You are to make its pots to take away its ashes; and its shovels, its basins, its meat hooks, and its fire pans. You are to make all its vessels of bronze.


“Bring Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, near to you from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to me in the priest’s office: Aaron, with Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons.


the anointing oil, and the incense of sweet spices for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded you they are to do.”


He made the holy anointing oil and the pure incense of sweet spices, after the art of the perfumer.


He made all the vessels of the altar: the pots, the shovels, the basins, the forks, and the fire pans. He made all its vessels of bronze.


and he burned incense of sweet spices on it, as YHWH commanded Moses.


Aaron took Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab, the sister of Nahshon, as his wife; and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.


We will go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to YHWH our God, as he will command us.”

Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a large assembly, and all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,


Y’all provoke me to anger with the works of your* hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where y’all have gone to live. Y’all will be cut off and y’all will become a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth.


They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I didn’t command, nor did it come into my mind.


YHWH spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they came near before YHWH, and died;


He is to take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before YHWH, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil.


“‘They must follow my commandment, so they do not bear sin for it and die in it, if they profane it. I am YHWH who sanctifies them.


Fire came out from before YHWH, and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted, and fell on their faces.


Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, put fire from the altar in it, lay incense on it, carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them, because wrath has come out from YHWH! The plague has begun.”


Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before YHWH.


“Y’all must allow the tribe of the families of the Kohathites to be cut off from among the Levites.


Everything that I command y’all, y’all must observe to do. You must not add to it, nor take away from it.


and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the stars of the sky, which I have not commanded,


Y’all must not add to the word that I command y’all and do not take away from it, so that y’all may keep the commandments of YHWH y’all’s God which I command y’all.


which held a golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered with gold on all sides, in which was a golden pot holding the manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant.
