But in my adversity, they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together. The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I didn’t know it. They tore at me, and didn’t cease.


The Lord will laugh at ʜɪᴍ, for ʜᴇ sees that ʜɪꜱ day is coming.


For I said, “Don’t let them gloat over me, or exalt themselves over me when my foot slips.”


YHWH has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,


who struck the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, who ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that no one restrained.


Therefore all those who devour you will be devoured. All your adversaries, everyone of them, will go into captivity. Those who plunder you will be plunder. I will make all who prey on you become prey.


For wasn’t Israel a laughingstock to you? Was he found among thieves? For as often as you speak of him, you shake your head in scorn.


“Because you are glad, because you rejoice, O you who plunder my heritage, because you are wanton as a heifer that treads out the grain, and neigh as strong horses,


Y’all shout against her on every side. She has thrown up her hands in surrender. Her pillars have fallen. Her walls have been thrown down, for it is the vengeance of YHWH. Y’all are to take vengeance on her. As she has done, do to her.


“Y’all call together the archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. Y’all are to encamp against her all around. Let none of it escape. Y’all must pay her back according to her work. According to all that she has done, do to her, for she has been proud against YHWH, against the Holy One of Israel.


“See, I am against you, you proud one,” says the Lord, YHWH Almighty; “for your day has come, the time that I will visit you.


“I will repay Babylon and all the inhabitants of Chaldea for all the evil that they have done in Zion in y’all’s sight,” says YHWH.


“As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall, so the slain of all the land will fall at Babylon.


“For these things I weep. My eye, my eye runs down with water, because the comforter who should refresh my soul is far from me. My children are desolate, because the enemy has prevailed.”


She weeps-weeps in the night. Her tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers she has no one to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her. They have become her enemies.


“Let all their wickedness come before you. Do to them as you have done to me for all my transgressions. For my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.


The roads to Zion mourn, because no one comes to the solemn assembly. All her gates are desolate. Her priests sigh. Her virgins are afflicted, and she herself is in bitterness.


Jerusalem has grievously sinned. Therefore she has become unclean. All who honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness. Yes, she sighs and turns backward.


All that pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, “Is this the city that men called ‘The perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth’?”


All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you. They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say, “We have swallowed her up. Certainly this is the day that we looked for. We have found it. We have seen it.”


“Son of humanity, because Tyre has said against Jerusalem, ‘Aha! She is broken! She who was the gateway of the peoples has been returned to me. I will be replenished, now that she is laid waste;’


Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of YHWH is near in the valley of decision.


Y’all are to pay back to her like she paid. And y’all should double it and according to her deeds. In the cup that she poured, y’all pour her a double portion.
