Out of that land he went into Assyria, and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah,


So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, went home, and lived at Nineveh.


But a prophet of YHWH was there, whose name was Oded. He went out to meet the army that came to Samaria, and said to them, “Look, because YHWH, the God of y’all’s ancestors, was angry with Judah, ʜᴇ has delivered them into y’all’s hand, and y’all killed with such rage that it has reached up to heaven.


and I said, “My God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God, for our iniquities have increased over our head, and our guiltiness has grown up to the heavens.


So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, went away, returned to Nineveh, and stayed there.


“Cry aloud! Don’t spare! Lift up your voice like a trumpet! Declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins.


If I say that I will not make mention of him, or speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones. I am weary with holding it in. I can’t.


You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or whether refuse, for they are most rebellious.


They don’t consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own deeds have engulfed them. They are before my face.


“Arise, go to the massive city of Nineveh, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.”


So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of YHWH. Now Nineveh was a massive city, three days’ journey across.


Shouldn’t I be concerned for Nineveh, that massive city, in which are more than one hundred twenty thousand persons who can’t discern between their right hand and their left hand, and also many animals?”


But as for me, I am full of power by the Spirit of YHWH, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his disobedience, and to Israel his sin.

There is no healing your wound, for your injury is fatal. All who hear the report of you clap their hands over you, for who hasn’t felt your endless cruelty?


And y’all will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the ethnic groups.


The men of Nineveh will stand up in judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah. Now look! Something greater than Jonah is here.


Look! The wages of the laborers who mowed y’all’s fields, which y’all have kept back by fraud, cry out against y’all. The cries of the harvesters have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.


for her sins have piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.
