The burden of Moab. For in a night, Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing. For in a night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing.


My heart cries out for Moab! Her nobles flee to Zoar, to Eglath Shelishiyah; for they go up by the ascent of Luhith with weeping; for on the way to Horonaim, they raise up a cry of destruction.


But now YHWH has spoken, saying, “Within three years, as a worker bound by contract would count them, the glory of Moab will be brought into contempt, with all his great multitude; and the remnant will be very small and feeble.”


For YHWH’s hand will rest in this mountain. Moab will be trodden down in his place, even like straw is trodden down in the water of the dunghill.


So YHWH, the God of Israel, said to me: “Take this cup of the wine of wrath from my hand, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it.


Then I took the cup from YHWH’s hand, and made all the nations to whom YHWH had sent me drink it:


“If these ordinances depart from before me,” says YHWH, “then the offspring of Israel also will cease from being a nation before me forever.”


“Have you not noticed what this people has spoken, saying, ‘YHWH has rejected the two families that ʜᴇ chose’? Thus they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.”


Don’t be afraid, O Jacob my servant,” says YHWH, “for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you, but I will not make a full end of you, but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished.”


Mourn for him, all y’all around him; and those who know his name, y’all must say, ‘How the strong staff is broken, the beautiful rod!’


Moab will be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against YHWH.


“Those who fled stand without strength under the shadow of Heshbon; for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, and a flame from the middle of Sihon, and has devoured the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.


“Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is destroyed! Y’all cry out, daughters of Rabbah! Y’all clothe yourself in sackcloth and lament Y’all rush back and forth among the fences, for Malcam will go into exile, together with his priests and officials.


I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before those who seek their life. I will bring evil on them, even my fierce anger,’ says YHWH; ‘and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.


The children of Reuben built Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim,
