“See how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but I will bring the evil on his house in his son’s day.”


because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before YHWH when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you,’ says YHWH.


But then, Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that YHWH’s wrath didn’t come on them in the days of Hezekiah.

The fear of YHWH is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.


Who gave Jacob as plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Was it not YHWH, against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in ʜɪꜱ ways, and they disobeyed ʜɪꜱ law.

Who shouldn’t fear you, King of the nations? For it belongs to you. Because among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their royal estate, there is no one like you.


You are to tell them, “YHWH says: ‘If y’all will not listen to me and walk in my law which I have set before y’all,


They came in and possessed it, but they didn’t obey your voice and didn’t walk in your law. They have done nothing of all that you commanded them to do. Therefore you have caused all this evil to come upon them.


As the king and his servants heard all these words, they were not afraid and they didn’t tear their garments.


Because y’all have burned incense and because y’all have sinned against YHWH, and have not obeyed YHWH’s voice, or walked in ʜɪꜱ law, statutes, and testimonies, this disaster has happened to y’all, as it is today.”

Humble yourselves* therefore under the mighty hand of God, that ʜᴇ may exalt y’all in due time.


Who wouldn’t fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. For all the ethnic groups will come and worship before you. For your righteous acts have been revealed.”
