The Midianites sold him into Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, the captain of the guard.


‘They will take away some of your sons who will issue from you, whom you will father; and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”


Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive the rest of the people who were left in the city and those who had deserted to the king of Babylon—all the rest of the multitude.


Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.


Therefore my people go into captivity for lack of knowledge. Their honorable men are starving, and their masses are parched with thirst.


For YHWH says, “Look, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this time, and will distress them, that they may feel it.”


Therefore I will cast y’all out of this land into the land that y’all have not known, neither you* nor your* ancestors. There y’all will serve other gods day and night, for I will show y’all no mercy.’


“‘As the bad figs, which can’t be eaten, they are so bad,’ surely YHWH says, ‘So I will give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt.


Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, “I am afraid of the Jews who have defected to the Chaldeans. They may deliver me into their hand and they will torture me.”


The word that came to Jeremiah from YHWH, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard released him from Ramah. He found him bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were carried away captive to Babylon.


Now when all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, women, children, and of the poorest of the land, of those who were not carried away captive to Babylon,


Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.


The king of Babylon struck them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.


Then Daniel returned answer with counsel and prudence to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon.


I will scatter y’all among the nations, and I will draw out a sword after y’all. Y’all’s land will become desolate, and y’all’s cities will become waste.


YHWH will scatter y’all among the peoples, and y’all will be left few in number among the nations where YHWH will drive y’all.
