It will happen, when you tell this people all these words, and they ask you, ‘Why has YHWH pronounced all this great evil against us?’ or ‘What is our iniquity?’ or ‘What is our sin that we have committed against YHWH our God?’


The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him, “YHWH your God decreed disaster on this place.


And now YHWH has brought it, and done as ʜᴇ decreed. Because y’all have sinned against YHWH, and have not obeyed ʜɪꜱ voice, this has happened to y’all.


The kings of the earth didn’t believe, neither did all the inhabitants of the world, that the adversary and the enemy would enter into the gates of Jerusalem.


But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they come. Then they will know that I am YHWH.’”


They will comfort y’all, when y’all see their conduct and their deeds. Then y’all will know that I have not done all that I have done in it without cause,” says Lord YHWH.


The nations will know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity, because they trespassed against me, and I hid my face from them; so I gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and they all fell by the sword.


So it will be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, to the nations that are around you, when I execute judgments on you in anger and in wrath, and in wrathful rebukes—I, YHWH, have spoken it.


“Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but to us confusion of face, as it is today; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near and who are far off, through all the countries where you have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against you.
