When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off. The women will come and set them on fire, for they are a people of no understanding. Therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them, and he who formed them will show them no favor.


I was angry with my people. I profaned my inheritance and gave them into your hand. You showed them no mercy. You laid a very heavy yoke on the aged.


I will smash them one against another, the parents and the children alike,” says YHWH: “I will not pity, spare, or have compassion, to keep me from destroying them.”’”


When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.”


For who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn for you? Who will come to ask of your welfare?


She who has borne seven languishes. She has given up the spirit. Her sun has gone down while it was yet day. She has been disappointed and confounded. I will deliver their residue to the sword before their enemies,” says YHWH.


“‘“I will make the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem void in this place. I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life. I will give their dead bodies to be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.


For YHWH says, ‘I am about to make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive to Babylon, and will kill them with the sword.


I would give you into the hand of those who seek your life, and into the hand of them of whom you are afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.


Now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant. I have also given the animals of the field to him to serve him.


and Zedekiah king of Judah won’t escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but will be delivered-delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him face to face and eye to eye.


You won’t escape out of his hand, but will be captured-captured and delivered into his hand. Your eyes will see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he will speak with you mouth to mouth. You will go to Babylon.”’


Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you are to say, ‘YHWH says: “You have burned this scroll, saying, “Why have you written therein, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will come-come and destroy this land, and will cause to cease from there man and animal?’”’


Then Zedekiah the king sent for him and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house, “Is there any word from YHWH?” Jeremiah said, “There is.” He also said, “You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”


“Israel is a hunted sheep. The lions have driven him away. First, the king of Assyria devoured him, and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones.”


“Look, YHWH, and see to whom you have done thus! Should the women eat their offspring, the children that they held and bounced on their knees? Should the priest and the prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?


“You have called, as in the day of a solemn assembly, my terrors on every side. There was no one that escaped or remained in the day of YHWH’s anger. My enemy has consumed those whom I have cared for and brought up.


“For Lord YHWH says: ‘I am about to deliver you into the hand of them whom you hate, into the hand of them from whom your soul is alienated.


My eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity. I will punish you according to your ways. Your abominations will be among you. Then y’all will know that I, YHWH, strike.


Therefore I will also deal in wrath. My eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity. Though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet I will not hear them.”


As for me also, my eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity, but I will bring their way on their head.”
