Many times they have afflicted me from my youth up. Let Israel now say:


Israel saw the great work which YHWH did to the Egyptians, and the people feared YHWH; and they believed in YHWH and in his servant Moses.


Moses said, “Now YHWH will give y’all meat to eat in the evening and bread to satisfy y’all in the morning, because YHWH hears y’all’s grumbling which y’all grumble against ʜɪᴍ. And who are we? Y’all’s grumblings are not against us, but against YHWH.”


Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.


Y’all go out, you daughters of Zion, and see King Solomon, with the crown with which his mother crowned him, in the day of his wedding, in the day of the gladness of his heart.


Who is this who comes up from the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all spices of the merchant?


“Cry aloud! Don’t spare! Lift up your voice like a trumpet! Declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins.


YHWH said to me, “You are to proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Y’all must listen the words of this covenant, and y’all must do them.


and go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I will tell you.


The word of YHWH came to me, saying,


They didn’t say, ‘Where is YHWH who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that no one passed through, and where no man lived?’


Will you not from this time cry to me, ‘My Father, you are the guide of my youth!’?


“You must stand in the gate of the house of YHWH and proclaim this word there, saying, ‘Y’all are to listen to the word of YHWH, all from Judah, who enter in at these gates to worship YHWH.’”


In all your abominations and your prostitution you have not remembered the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, and were wallowing in your blood.


Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.


“‘“Now when I passed by you and looked at you, and saw that you were at the time for love, and I spread my garment over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I pledged myself to you and entered into a covenant with you,” says Lord YHWH, “and you became mine.


Yet she multiplied her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth, in which she had played the prostitute in the land of Egypt.


They played the prostitute in Egypt. They played the prostitute in their youth. Their breasts were fondled there, and their youthful nipples were caressed there.


She hasn’t left her prostitution since leaving Egypt; for in her youth they lay with her. They caressed her youthful nipples and they poured out their prostitution on her.


“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.


I will give her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she will respond there as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.


For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they will no longer be mentioned by name.


She will follow after her lovers, but she won’t overtake them; and she will seek them, but won’t find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go and return to my first husband, for then it was better with me than now.’


“Put the trumpet to your lips! Something like an eagle is over the house of YHWH, because they have broken my covenant and rebelled against my law.


I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw y’all’s ancestors as the first fruit of the fig tree at its first season. But they came to Baal Peor, and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, and became detestable like the thing they loved.


“Get up, go to the massive city of Nineveh and preach against it, because their wickedness has come up before me.”


Whoever has ears, let them hear.


Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”


For YHWH your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has known your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years, YHWH your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.


Yes, ʜᴇ loves the people. All ʜɪꜱ saints are in your hand. They sat down at your feet. Each receives your words.


You must remember all the way which YHWH your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, test you, and know what was in your heart, whether you would keep ʜɪꜱ commandments or not.


Adulterous people, don’t y’all know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes themselves an enemy of God.


But I have this against you: you have forsaken your first love.
