YHWH saw that the wickedness of humanity was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of the human heart was continually only evil.


YHWH smelled the pleasant aroma. YHWH said in ʜɪꜱ heart, “I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake because the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth. I will never again strike every living thing, as I have done.


He was still talking with them, when the messenger came down to him and he said, “Look, this evil is from YHWH. Why should I wait for YHWH any longer?”


You were wearied with the length of your ways; yet you didn’t say, ‘It is in vain.’ You found a reviving of your strength; therefore you weren’t faint.


I have spread out my hands all day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts;


Yet they did not obey, nor turn their ear, but everyone walked in the stubbornness of their evil heart. Therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they didn’t do them.’”


But y’all have done evil more than y’all’s ancestors, Look! Each of y’all follow the stubbornness of your own wicked heart without listening to me.


“Keep your feet from being bare, and your throat from thirst. But you said, ‘It is in vain. No, for I have loved strangers, and I will go after them.’


They say-and-say to those who despise me, ‘YHWH has said, “Y’all will have peace;”’ and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, ‘No disaster will come to y’all.’


At that time they will call Jerusalem ‘YHWH’s Throne’ and all the nations will be gathered to it, to the name of YHWH in Jerusalem. They will no longer walk after the stubbornness of their evil heart.


But we will perform-perform every word that has come out of our mouth. We will burn incense to the queen of the sky and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, and were well, and saw no disaster.


I set watchmen over y’all, saying, ‘Y’all must listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen!’


But they didn’t listen or turn their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.


Then ʜᴇ said to me, “Son of humanity, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Look how they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are completely cut off.’


Y’all have said, ‘It is futile to serve God,’ and ‘What profit is it that we have followed ʜɪꜱ instructions and that we have walked mournfully before YHWH Almighty?


Hᴇ has done mighty deeds with ʜɪꜱ arm. Hᴇ has scattered those who are arrogant in their hearts and minds.


When such a person hears the words of this curse, he bless himself in his heart, saying, “I will have peace, even though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.” This will destroy the moist and the dry land.
