Howl, gate! Cry, city! You are melted away, Philistia, all of you; for smoke comes out of the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks.


“I have raised up one from the north, and he has come, from the rising of the sun, one who calls on my name, and he will come on rulers as upon mortar, and as the potter treads clay.


The voice of news, is coming, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling place of jackals.


For YHWH Almighty, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done to themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense to Baal.


I will send and take all the families of the north,” says YHWH, “and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around. I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.


Look! I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth, along with the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her who travails with child together. They will return as a great company.


Y’all must raise the signal toward Zion and flee for safety! Y’all must not stand still, for I will bring disaster from the north and a great destruction.”


“Egypt is a very beautiful heifer, but destruction out of the north has come. It has come.


YHWH says: “Look, waters rise up out of the north, and will become an overflowing stream, and will overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein. The men will cry, and all the inhabitants of the land will wail.


“Look! a people comes from the north. A great nation and many kings will be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.


For look! I will stir up and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country. They will set themselves in array against her. She will be taken from there. Their arrows will be like a skilled warrior. None of them will return in vain.


“Y’all must flee for safety, children of Benjamin, from the middle of Jerusalem! Y’all are to blow the trumpet in Tekoa and raise up a signal on Beth Haccherem, for disaster looks down from the north with a great destruction.


This is what YHWH says, “Look, a people comes from the north country. A great nation will be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.


I looked, and there was a stormy wind came out of the north: a great cloud, with flashing lightning, and a brightness around it, and out of the middle of it as it were glowing metal, out of the middle of the fire.


Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and tell them, ‘Lord YHWH says, “Put the cauldron on the fire. Put it on, and also pour water into it.


But I will remove the northern army far away from y’all, and will drive it into a barren and desolate land, its front into the eastern sea, and its back into the western sea; and its stench will come up, and its bad smell will rise.” Surely ʜᴇ has done great things.


The one with the black horses goes out toward the north country; and the white went out after them; and the dappled went out toward the south country.”
