You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. It will happen, when you will break loose, that you will shake his yoke from off your neck.”


For the scepter of wickedness won’t remain over the allotment of the righteous, so that the righteous won’t use their hands to do evil.


“I removed the burden from his shoulder. His hands were freed from the basket.


Therefore the Lord, YHWH Almighty, will send leanness among his fat ones; and under his glory a burning will be kindled like a blazing fire.


Alas Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation!


I will break the Assyrian in my land, and tread him under foot on my mountains. Then his yoke will leave them, and his burden leave their shoulders.


Let my outcasts dwell with you! As for Moab, be a hiding place for him from the face of the destroyer. For the extortionist is brought to nothing. Destruction ceases. The oppressors are consumed out of the land.


I was angry with my people. I profaned my inheritance and gave them into your hand. You showed them no mercy. You laid a very heavy yoke on the aged.


I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh; and they will be drunk on their own blood, as with sweet wine. Then all humanity will know that I, YHWH, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”


Have you forgotten YHWH your Maker, who stretched out the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth? Do you live in fear continually all day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he prepares to destroy? Where is the fury of the oppressor?


Shake off the dust! Arise and sit up, Jerusalem! Y’all take the chains off of your back, captive daughter of Zion!


You will be established in righteousness. You will be far from oppression, for you will not be afraid, and far from terror, for it will not come near you.


For all the armor of the armed man in the noisy battle, and the garments rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.


It will come to pass in that day, says YHWH Almighty, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds. Strangers will no longer enslave them,


Mourn for him, all y’all around him; and those who know his name, y’all must say, ‘How the strong staff is broken, the beautiful rod!’


I am YHWH y’all’s God, who brought y’all out of the land of Egypt, so that y’all would not be their slaves. I have broken the bars of y’all’s yoke and enabled y’all walk upright.


Now I will break his yoke from off you, and will burst your bonds apart.”
