You will save the afflicted people, but your eyes are on the arrogant, that you may bring them down.


“Why doesn’t the Almighty set the times? Why don’t those who know ʜɪᴍ see his days?


YHWH, my heart isn’t arrogant, nor my eyes lofty; nor do I concern myself with great matters, or things too wonderful for me.


For you light my lamp, YHWH. My God shines in my darkness.


The Lord will laugh at ʜɪᴍ, for ʜᴇ sees that ʜɪꜱ day is coming.


Rise up, you judge of the earth. Pay back the proud what they deserve.


Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to YHWH. They will certainly not go unpunished.


Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks.


Look, the Lord, YHWH Almighty, will lop the boughs with terror. The tall will be cut down, and the lofty will be brought low.


I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity. I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will humble the arrogance of the terrible.


Wail y’all, for the day of YHWH is near! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.


Look, the day of YHWH is coming, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy its sinners out of it.


Yet you will be brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit.


YHWH Almighty has planned it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.


It will happen in that day that YHWH will punish the army of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth on the earth.


The earth mourns and fades away. The world languishes and fades away. The lofty people of the earth languish.


Hᴇ is the one who brings rulers to nothing, who makes the judges of the earth into emptiness.


I will destroy mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs. I will make the rivers islands, and will dry up the pools.


So humanity is brought low, and each person is humbled, and the eyes of the arrogant ones are humbled;


to proclaim the year of YHWH’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,


Is my inheritance to me as a speckled bird of prey? Are the birds of prey against her all around? Y’all go and gather all the animals of the field. Y’all are to bring them to devour.


“YHWH says, ‘In this way I will ruin the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.


Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it! It will be the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he will be saved out of it.


For that day is of the Lord, YHWH Almighty, a day of vengeance, that ʜᴇ may avenge himself of his adversaries. The sword will devour and be satiated, and will drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, YHWH Almighty, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.==


“See, I am against you, you proud one,” says the Lord, YHWH Almighty; “for your day has come, the time that I will visit you.


Y’all have not gone up into the gaps or built up the wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle on the day of YHWH.


Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.


“Woe to all who desire the day of YHWH! Why do y’all long for the day of YHWH? It is darkness, and not light.


Therefore YHWH says: “Look! I am planning evil for this family, from which y’al cannot free your necks. Then y’all will not walk proudly, for it is an time of evil.


I will cut off the cities of your land and will tear down all your strongholds.


a day of the trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities and against the high battlements.


In that day you will not be disappointed for all your doings in which you have transgressed against me; for then I will take away out from among you your proudly exulting ones, and you will no more be arrogant in my holy mountain.


“For indeed, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the proud and all who work wickedness will be stubble. The day that comes will burn them up,” says YHWH Almighty, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.


Indeed, I will send y’all Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of YHWH comes.


For whoever exalts themself will be humbled, and whoever humbles themself will be exalted.


For everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and whoever humbles themself will be exalted.”


you are to deliver such a person to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.


For y’all know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.


But ʜᴇ gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
