In their streets, they clothe themselves in sackcloth. In their streets and on their housetops, everyone wails, weeping abundantly.


It will happen that when Moab presents himself, when he wearies himself on the high place, and comes to his sanctuary to pray, that he will not prevail.


Therefore Moab will wail. Everyone will wail for Moab. Y’all will mourn for the raisin cakes of Kir Hareseth, utterly stricken.


In that day, the Lord, YHWH Almighty, called to weeping, to mourning, to baldness, and to dressing in sackcloth.


Instead of sweet spices, there will be rottenness; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of well dressed hair, baldness; instead of a fine clothes, a sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty.


A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and the petitions of the children of Israel, because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten YHWH their God.


YHWH says: “Look, waters rise up out of the north, and will become an overflowing stream, and will overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein. The men will cry, and all the inhabitants of the land will wail.


Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing. You remnant of their valley, how long will you cut yourself?


Concerning Moab, YHWH Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Woe to Nebo! For it is laid waste. Kiriathaim is disappointed. It is taken. Misgab is put to shame and broken down.


“Come down from your glory, and sit in thirst, daughter who dwells in Dibon, For the destroyer of Moab has come up against you. He has destroyed your strongholds.


Therefore I will wail for Moab. Yes, I will cry out for all Moab. They will mourn for the men of Kir Heres.


Moreover I will put an end in Moab,” says YHWH, “him who offers in the high place, and him who burns incense to his gods.


“Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is destroyed! Y’all cry out, daughters of Rabbah! Y’all clothe yourself in sackcloth and lament Y’all rush back and forth among the fences, for Malcam will go into exile, together with his priests and officials.


You are to cut off your hair, and throw it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights, because YHWH has rejected and forsaken the generation of ʜɪꜱ wrath.


They will make themselves bald for you, and clothe themselves with sackcloth. They will weep for you in bitterness of soul, with bitter mourning.


“Son of humanity, prophesy, and say, ‘Lord YHWH says: “Y’all are to wail, ‘Alas for the day!’


They will also clothe themselves with sackcloth, and horror will cover them. Shame will be on all faces, and baldness on all their heads.


“If a man’s hair has fallen from his head, he is bald. He is clean.


“‘They must not shave their heads or shave off the corners of their beards or make any cuttings in their flesh.


I will turn y’all’s feasts into mourning, and all y’all’s songs into lamentation. I will make everyone wear sackcloth on their bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.


For a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.


We have shot at them. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon. We have laid waste even to Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”


“Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon,


Nebo, and Baal Meon, (their names being changed), and Sibmah. They gave other names to the cities which they built.


Y’all are the children of YHWH y’all’s God. Y’all must not cut yourselves*, nor make shave a bald spot between y’all’s eyes for the dead.
