For YHWH saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter for all, slave and free; and there was no helper for Israel.


Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him, and Hoshea became his servant and paid him tribute.


The king of Assyria discovered a conspiracy in Hoshea, for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria seized him, and bound him in prison.


So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried away the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and to the river of Gozan, to this day.


For he says, “Aren’t all of my commanders kings?


who set out to go down into Egypt without asking for my advice, to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to take refuge in the shadow of Egypt!


Then Rabshakeh stood and called out with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, “Y’all hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!


and said to Jeremiah the prophet, “Please let our petition be presented to you. Pray to YHWH your God for us, for all this remnant. For we are left but a few of many, you can see with your eyes,


People give gifts to all prostitutes; but you give your gifts to all your lovers, and bribe them, that they may come to you on every side for your prostitution.


therefore see, I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have taken pleasure, and all those whom you have loved, with all those whom you have hated. I will even gather them against you on every side, and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness.


As they gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the furnace, to blow the fire on it and melt it, so I will gather y’all in my anger and in my wrath, and I will lay y’all there and melt y’all.


“Oholah played the prostitute when she was mine. She doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbors,


“For this i what Lord YHWH says: ‘I am about to bring on Tyre Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, from the north, with horses, with chariots, with horsemen, and an army with many people.


You, O king, are king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength, and the glory.


When it is my desire, I will chastise them; and the nations will be gathered against them when they are bound to their two transgressions.


YHWH also has a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his deeds he will repay him.


For this is what YHWH Almighty says: ‘Yet once more, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land;
