He gave to all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, both to men and women, to everyone a portion of bread, dates, and raisins. So all the people departed, each to his own house.


But YHWH was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and favored them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them and he didn’t cast them from his presence as yet.


He gave to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins.


“Nevertheless in your manifold mercies you didn’t make a full end of them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God.


Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to YHWH, our God, until ʜᴇ has mercy on us.


They rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.


Y’all strengthen me with raisins, Y’all refresh me with apples; for I am faint with love.


“Y’all look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.


“Indeed as a woman betrays her companion, so y’all betrayed me, house of Israel,” says YHWH.


Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I still remember-remember him. Therefore my heart yearns for him. I will have compassion-compassion on him,” says YHWH.


“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me, my compassion is aroused.


For their mother has played the prostitute. She who conceived them has done shamefully; for she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, who give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.’


Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding.


On the day of our king, the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine. He joined his hand with mockers.


They lay themselves down beside every altar on clothes taken in pledge. In the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.


who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best oils, but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.


But as for me, I will look to YHWH. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.


Therefore YHWH says: “I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house will be rebuilt in it,” says YHWH Almighty, “and a measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’


Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you are here for.” Then they came and seized Jesus and arrested him.


Y’all can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. Y’all can’t both partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.


Y’all must not become idolaters as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”


For y’all have spent enough time in the past carrying out the desire of the ethnic groups, having walked in sensuality, desires, drunkenness, hard partying, binge drinking, and illicit idolatries.


They put away the foreign gods from among them and served YHWH; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.


They went out into the field, harvested their vineyards, trod the grapes, celebrated, and went into the house of their god and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech.
