Then, seven heads of grain—withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind—sprung up after them.


The name of the second, he called Ephraim: “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.”

His father refused, and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his offspring will become a multitude of nations.”


“Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.


His roots will be dried up beneath. His branch will be cut off above.


The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff driven away by the wind.


Let his posterity be cut off. In the generation following let their name be blotted out.


Y’all are to prepare for slaughter of his children because of the iniquity of their fathers, they are not rise up and possess the earth, and fill the surface of the world with cities.


The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters, but he will rebuke them, and they will flee far off, and will be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.

A full wind from these will come for me. Now I will also utter judgments against them.”


YHWH says: “I am about to raise up against Babylon, and against those who dwell in Lebkamai, a destroying wind.


Therefore YHWH says, “Look! I will plead your cause, and take vengeance for you. I will dry up her sea, and make her fountain dry.


Even though it is planted, will it prosper? Won’t it utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the ground where it grew.”’”


But it was plucked up in fury. It was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were broken off and withered. The fire consumed them.


He will also carry their gods with their molten images, and with their goodly vessels of silver and of gold, captive into Egypt. He will refrain some years from the king of the north.


Israel is a luxuriant vine that produces his fruit. According to the abundance of his fruit he has multiplied his altars. As their land has prospered, they have adorned their sacred stones.


Otherwise I strip her naked, and make her bare as in the day that she was born, and make her like a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and kill her with thirst.


The wind has wrapped her up in its wings; and they will be ashamed of their sacrifices.


As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. There will be no birth, no one with child, and no conception.

Y’all plunder the silver. Y’all plunder the gold, for there is no end of treasure, an abundance of every precious thing.


Majesty belongs to the firstborn of his herd. His horns are the horns of the wild ox. With them he will push all the peoples to the ends of the earth. They are the ten thousands of Ephraim. They are the thousands of Manasseh.”
