After that, his brother came out with his hand holding on to Esau’s heel. He was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.


Jacob was left alone, and wrestled with a man there until the breaking of the day.


When he saw that he didn’t prevail against him, the man touched the socket of his thigh, and the socket of Jacob’s thigh was strained as he wrestled.


The man said, “Let me go, for the day breaks.” Jacob said, “I won’t let you go unless you bless me.”


Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” He said, “Why is it that you ask what my name is?” So he blessed him there.


Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him “Bethel”.


He blessed Joseph, and said, “The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has fed me all my life long to this day,


Hᴇ turned the sea into dry land. They went through the river on foot. There, we rejoiced in ʜɪᴍ.


In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.


“I will send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me! The Lord, whom y’all seek, will suddenly come to his temple. Look, the messenger of the covenant, whom y’all desire, is coming!” says YHWH Almighty.


Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.


In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and petitions with strong cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.
