The king of Assyria discovered a conspiracy in Hoshea, for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria seized him, and bound him in prison.


“Should a wise person answer with vain knowledge, and fill their belly with the east wind?


But they flattered ʜɪᴍ with their mouth, and lied to ʜɪᴍ with their tongue.


Just as one comes from their mother’s womb naked, so will they go again. They will take nothing for their labor that can be carries by hand.


Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks.


I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people who anger me I will give him a command to take the plunder and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.


It will happen in that day that YHWH will punish the army of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth on the earth.


Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them, for the deeds of their hands will be paid back to them.

For they have gone up to Assyria, like a wild donkey wandering alone. Ephraim has hired lovers for himself.


“All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them. Because of the wickedness of their deeds, I will drive them out of my house! I will love them no more. All their princes are rebels.
