Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh, “For”, he said, “God has made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.”


The name of the second, he called Ephraim: “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.”


To Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, bore to him.


Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them close to him.


When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him. He held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.


Joseph said to his father, “Not so, my father, for this is the firstborn. Put your right hand on his head.”


YHWH says to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet.”


The right hand of YHWH is exalted! The right hand of YHWH does valiantly!”


Your right hand, YHWH, is glorious in power. Your right hand, YHWH, dashes the enemy in pieces.


“The camp of Ephraim according to their divisions will camp on the west side by their standard. The leader of the children of Ephraim is Elishama the son of Ammihud.


You are to present the Levites before YHWH, and the children of Israel are to lay their hands on the Levites,


I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel.


And I tell you that you are Peter. Upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.


Then little children were brought to him so that he would place his hands on them and pray. But the disciples rebuked them.

Don’t neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy when the elders laid hands on you.


Do not lay hands upon anyone hastily, and do not participate in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
