He turned himself away from them, and wept. Then he returned to them, and spoke to them, and took Simeon from among them, and bound him before their eyes.


He wept aloud. The Egyptians heard, and the house of Pharaoh heard.


Joseph prepared his chariot, and went up to meet Israel, his father, in Goshen. He presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.


Then the woman whose son was living spoke to the king, for her womb was kindled with compassion for her son, and she said, “Please, my lord, y’all must give the living child to her. Don’t kill-kill him!” But the other woman said, “He will not be mine nor yours. Cut him in half, y’all!”


Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I still remember-remember him. Therefore my heart yearns for him. I will have compassion-compassion on him,” says YHWH.

longing to see you, remembering your tears, so that I may be filled with joy.


If someone has worldly possessions and sees his sibling in need but closes his heart toward them, how does God’s love remain in that person?
