In my dream, I saw seven heads of grain growing on one stalk, full and good.


The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven good heads of grain. I told this to the magicians, but there was no one who could explain it to me.”


After them, seven heads of grain sprung up that were thin and blasted with the east wind.


Therefore their inhabitants had little power. They were dismayed and confounded. They were like the grass of the field and like the green herb, like the grass on the housetops and like grain blasted before it has grown up.


Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of YHWH coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.


For they sow the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind. He has no standing grain. The stalk will yield no head. If it does yield, strangers will swallow it up.


Ephraim is struck. Their root has dried up. They will bear no fruit. Even though they give birth, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb.”
