Abraham said about Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.


He bought the parcel of ground where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for one hundred pieces of money.


Jacob’s sons came on the dead, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.


His soul joined to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young woman, and spoke kindly to the young woman.


Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “Y’all have troubled me by making me odious to the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites and the Perizzites. I am few in number, and if they will gather themselves together against me and strike me, I will be destroyed, both I and my house.”

If you have no delight in her, then you are let her go where she desires, but you must not sell-sell her for money or treat her as a slave, because you have humiliated her.


then y’all must bring them both out to the city gate stone them to death with stones—the young woman because she didn’t cry out in the city, and the man because he has violated his neighbor’s wife. So you must purge the evil from among you.


then the man who lay with her must give to the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver. She will become his wife, because he violated her. He may not divorce her all of his days.


The men of Israel said to the Hivites, “Maybe you live near us? How could we make a covenant with you?”
