Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.


The Angel of YHWH called to Abraham a second time out of the sky,


Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.


He called the name of that place Bethel, though the name of the city had been Luz.


Jacob called the name of the place Peniel; for he said, “I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”


The word of YHWH came to him, saying,


Moses built an altar, and called its name “YHWH our Banner”.


“It will be 18,000 reeds in circumference. And the name of the city from that day will be, ‘YHWH is there.’


Be in pain, and labor to give birth, daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail; for now you will go out of the city, and will dwell in the field, and will come even to Babylon. There you will be rescued. There YHWH will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.


The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.


For YHWH will judge his people, and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, that there is no one remaining, shut up or left at large.


By common confession, the mystery of godliness is great: He was revealed in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the ethnic groups, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory.


Then Gideon built an altar there to YHWH, and called it “YHWH is Peace.” To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “YHWH helped us until now.”
