One who had escaped came and told Abram, the Hebrew. At that time, he lived by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner. They were allies of Abram.


Now, therefore, swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son. But according to the kindness that I have done to you, you must do for me, and to the land in which you have lived as a foreigner.”


Abraham complained to Abimelech because of a water well, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.


Israel said, “Swear to me,” and he swore to him. Then Israel bowed himself on the bed’s head.


If possible, as far as it depends on y’all, be at peace with all humans.


For humans swear by one greater than themselves, and in every dispute of theirs, the oath is final confirmation.
