He gave a sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign which YHWH has spoken: The altar will be split apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out.”


He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses was afraid, and said, “Surely this thing is known.”


God also said to Moses, “You are to tell the children of Israel this, ‘YHWH, the God of your* ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to y’all.’ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.


You are to go and gather the elders of Israel together, and tell them, ‘YHWH, the God of y’all’s ancestors, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have watched-watched y’all and have seen what has been done to y’all in Egypt.


They will listen to your voice. Then you must go, along with the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and y’all are to tell him, ‘YHWH, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to YHWH, our God.’


Moses said to YHWH, “O Lord, I am not eloquent. I have not been before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant, for I am slow of speech and tongue.”


Aaron spoke all the words which YHWH had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.


The people believed, and when they heard that YHWH had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.


Moses spoke before YHWH, saying, “Look! The children of Israel don’t listened to me. How then will Pharaoh listen to me, when I have uncircumcised lips?”


Moses said before YHWH, “Since I am of uncircumcised lips, and how will Pharaoh listen to me?”


Then I said, “Alas, Lord YHWH! Look, I don’t know how to speak since I am only a youth.”


So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; and YHWH’s hand was strong on me.


Moses assumed that his people would understand that God was granting them deliverance through him, but they didn’t understand.


He said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.
