in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all humanity?


Look! All of y’all have seen it. Why then have y’all been so vain and empty?


“But as for me, I would seek God. I would commit my cause to God,


But you do see trouble and grief. You consider it to take it into your hand. You have been a helper to the victim and the fatherless.


My soul is continually in my hand, yet I won’t forget your law.


Into your hand I commend my spirit. You redeem me, YHWH, God of truth.


For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.


Commit your deeds to YHWH, and your plans will succeed.


I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also was a chasing after wind.


A fool also multiplies words. No one knows what will happen; and who can tell someone what will come after them?


All this I have seen in my days of emptiness: there is a righteous person who perishes in their righteousness, and there is a wicked person who lives long in their evildoing.


I turned around, and my heart sought to know and to search out, and to seek wisdom and the scheme of things, and to know that wickedness is stupidity, and that foolishness is madness.


There is a emptiness which is done on the earth, that there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked. Again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is emptiness.


When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on the earth (even though eyes see no sleep day or night),


For he doesn’t know that which will be; for who can tell him how it will be?


Also their love, their hatred, and their envy has perished long ago; neither do they any longer have a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.


YHWH, you will ordain peace for us, for you have also done all our work for us.
