Jacob vowed a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and clothing to put on,


God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”


Let’s arise and go up to Bethel. I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me on the way which I went.”


I will pay my vows to YHWH, yes, in the presence of all ʜɪꜱ people.


I have sworn, and have confirmed it, that I will obey your righteous ordinances.


My praise of you comes in the great assembly. I will pay my vows before those who fear ʜɪᴍ.


Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Pay your vows to the Most High.


Y’all are to make vows to YHWH your* God, and fulfill them! Let all who are around ʜɪᴍ bring tribute to the one who is to be feared.


It is a snare for a person to blurt out, “Holy!”, then later to consider their vows.


YHWH will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know YHWH in that day. Yes, they will worship with sacrifice and offering, and will vow a vow to YHWH, and will perform it.


But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. That which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to YHWH.”


“Oh that there were one of y’all who would shut the temple doors, so that y’all would not uselessly kindle fire on my altar! I am not pleased with y’all,” says YHWH Almighty, “nor will I accept an offering from your* hand.


When a man vows a vow to YHWH, or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond of obligation, he must not break his word. He must do everything that proceeds from his mouth.


“Again you have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘You must not make false vows, but fulfill to the Lord [YHWH] your vows,’


You were not pleased with burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin.


When he saw her, he tore his clothes, and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you are one of those who trouble me; for I have opened my mouth to YHWH, and I can’t go back.”
