and if the peoples of the land bring wares or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy from them on the Sabbath, or on a holy day; and that we would forego the seventh year crops and the exaction of every debt.


“If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve six years, and in the seventh he is to go out free without paying anything.


At the end of seven years, each of y’all will release their Hebrew sibling, who has been sold to you. After they have served six years, you are to let them go free. But y’all’s ancestors didn’t listen to me, and didn’t incline their ear.


This is the way it is to be done: every creditor must release what they have lent to their neighbor. They may not require payment from his neighbor and his brother, because YHWH’s release has been proclaimed.


Beware that there not be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, “The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,” and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing; and he cry to YHWH against you, and it be sin to you.
