Jacob sent messengers in front of him to Esau, his brother, to the land of Seir, the field of Edom.


I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb. You are to strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.


Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.


“‘If you offer a grain offering of first fruits to YHWH, you are to offer for the grain offering of your first fruits fresh heads of grain parched with fire and crushed.


Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of Meeting, and came out, and blessed the people; and YHWH’s glory appeared to all the people.


They went and came to Moses, to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them and to all the congregation. They showed them the fruit of the land.


That is what y’all’s ancestors did so when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.


We traveled from Horeb and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which y’all saw, by the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as YHWH our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh Barnea.


The Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against y’all and chased y’all like bees do. They beat y’all down from Seir to Hormah.


Then we turned and took our journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as YHWH spoke to me, and we traveled around Mount Seir for many days.


You are to command the people, ‘Y’all will pass through the border of y’all’s relatives the descendants of Esau, who dwell in Seir. They will be afraid of y’all, but y’all must be careful.


So we passed by our brothers, the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way of the Arabah from Elath and from Ezion Geber. We turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.


When YHWH sent y’all from Kadesh Barnea, saying, “Y’all are to go up and possess the land that I have given y’all,” y’all rebelled against the commandment of YHWH y’all’s God, and y’all didn’t believe ʜɪᴍ or listen to ʜɪꜱ voice.


Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that YHWH spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.
