God said to Noah, “I will bring an end to all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Watch, I will destroy them and the earth.


The fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley, will be like a ripe fig before the summer. Whoever sees it, picks and eats it immediately.


As for me, I am going to remain at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who will come to us. But y’all are to gather wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your* vessels, and dwell in the cities that y’all have captured.”


The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will y’all do at the end of it?


They hunt our steps, so that we can’t go in our streets. Our end is near. Our days are fulfilled, for our end has come.


Tell them therefore, ‘Lord YHWH says: “I will make this proverb to cease, and they will no more use it as a proverb in Israel;”’ but tell them, ‘“The days are at hand, and the fulfillment of every vision.


“‘Therefore Lord YHWH says: “I am going to bring a sword on you, and will cut off man and animal from you.


Moreover he said to me, “Son of humanity, receive in your heart and hear with your ears all my words that I speak to you.


But the house of Israel will not listen to you, for they will not listen to me; for all the house of Israel are obstinate and hard-hearted.


An end has come. The end has come! It awakes against you. Look, is coming!


Then he said to me, “Son of humanity, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his rooms of imagery? For they say, ‘YHWH doesn’t see us. YHWH has forsaken the land.’”


Then he said to me, “Do you see this, son of humanity? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger. Look at them putting the branch to their nose.


He said to me, “Son of humanity, do you see what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israel commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? But you will again see yet other great abominations.”


The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Israel will consider the prophet to be a fool, and the man who is inspired to be insane, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great.


YHWH said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line in the among my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.


This is what Lord YHWH showed me: a basket of summer fruit.


Misery is mine! Indeed, I am like one who gathers the summer fruits, as gleanings of the vineyard. There is no cluster of grapes to eat. My soul desires to eat the early fig.


He said to me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll, twenty cubits, long and ten cubits wide.”
