He said to Noe: The end of all flesh is come before me; the earth is filled with iniquity through them; and I will destroy them with the earth.


And the fading flower, the glory of his joy, who is on the head of the fat valley, shall be as a hasty fruit before the ripeness of autumn: which when he that seeth it shall behold, as soon as he taketh it in his hand, he will eat it up.


Behold, I dwell in Masphath, that I may answer the commandment of the Chaldeans that are sent to us: but as for you, gather ye the vintage and the harvest and the oil, and lay it up in your vessels, and abide in your cities which you hold.


The prophets prophesied falsehood, and the priests clapped their hands: and my people loved such things. What then shall be done in the end thereof?


Sade. Our steps have slipped in the way of our streets, our end draweth near: our days are fulfilled, for our end is come.


Say to them therefore: Thus saith the Lord God: I will make this proverb to cease, neither shall it be any more a common saying in Israel: and tell them that the days are at hand, and the effect of every vision.


Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will bring the sword upon thee: and cut off man and beast out of thee.


And he said to me: Son of man, receive in thy heart and hear with thy ears all the words that I speak to thee:


But the house of Israel will not hearken to thee, because they will not hearken to me: for all the house of Israel are of a hard forehead and an obstinate heart.


An end is come, the end is come, it hath awaked against thee: behold, it is come.


And he add to me: Surely thou seest, O son of man, what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every one in private in his chamber: for they say: The Lord seeth us not, the Lord hath forsaken the earth.


And he said to me: Surely thou hast seen, O son of man. Is this a light thing to the house of Juda, that they should commit these abominations which they have committed here: because they have filled the land with iniquity and have turned to provoke me to anger? And, behold, they put a branch to their nose.


And he said to me: Son of man, dost thou see, thinkest thou, what these are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should depart far off from my sanctuary? And turn thee yet again and thou shalt see greater abominations.


The days of visitation are come, the days of repaying are come: know ye, O Israel, that the prophet was foolish, the spiritual man was mad, for the multitude of thy iniquity, and the multitude of thy madness.


And the Lord said to me: What seest thou, Amos? And I said: A mason's trowel. And the Lord said: Behold, I will lay down the trowel in the midst of my people Israel. I will plaster them over no more.


These things the Lord shewed to me: and behold a hook to draw down the fruit.


Woe is me, for I am become as one that gleaneth in autumn the grapes of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat, my soul desired the firstripe figs.


And he said to me: What seest thou? And I said: I see a volume flying: the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.
